UAS Professor Emily Wall to be featured at the Juneau Public Library’s event “Birth Stories and Poetry Reading,” September 4

Wall will be reading from her new book Breaking Into Air. At the event, local parents will be sharing their experiences with birth. This will be followed by Emily Wall’s readings of her original poems inspired by their stories.

Emily Wall, Professor of English at the University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) will be featured at this weekend’s Juneau Public Library Event “Birth Stories and Poetry Reading.” The event runs from 12 to 1 pm at the Douglas Public Library on Sunday, September 4.

Wall will be reading from her new book Breaking Into Air. At the event, local parents will be sharing their experiences with birth. This will be followed by Emily Wall’s readings of her original poems inspired by their stories.

Wall notes, “this book has been such a joy to share; so many people have come up to me to share birth stories–and not just mamas. The grandpa stories are amazing too. I’m so glad we are talking in the open about this essential human experience.”

Emily Wall has been teaching creative writing at UAS for over 20 years. She is also the faculty advisor for the annual literary journal Tidal Echoes. She earned her Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona, and also holds two bachelor degrees from Colby College in Oregon.
