The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nathan Bodenstadt as its new Dean of Students. As Dean of Students, Bodenstadt oversees the departments of Campus Life, including Residence Life, the Recreation Center, Counseling, the Health Clinic, Student Activities, the Native & Rural Student Center and more.

Bodenstadt remarked, “I have had the pleasure to be a member of the UAS and Juneau community for many years, and I’m excited to continue expanding that relationship. I relish the opportunity to connect with and provide support to a wide variety of students in this new role.”

Bodenstadt is Inupiaq, and was born and raised in Fairbanks. He received his Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree in Social Science and Communications from UAS and his Master of Science degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education. He has worked for UAS Residence Life since 2012, most recently as Director of the Division since 2019.

Bodenstadt can often be seen frequenting paths around the Auke Bay campus with his Chocolate Lab, Xyon. In his spare time, Bodenstadt enjoys exploring Juneau trails and camping opportunities. He also is an avid baker – keep an eye out for homemade cookies and scones when you drop in to say hello at his office!

“Nathan’s decade of service positions him well to step into the Dean of Students role. He knows our culture, our practices, and our students. He’s from Alaska, a UAS graduate, and dedicated to UAS and Juneau.” said Lori Klein, Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs.
