Graphics can create a welcoming environment and add visual engagement to lessons. Using graphics representing diverse groups helps create a more inclusive environment.
Inclusive Photo Repositories
Including images that represent more of your students is a small thing you can do that is proven to have a big impact on student retention and sense of belonging. [1]
The following are good places to find free or creative commons licensed images that intentionally provide images that represent diverse cultures, body types, genders, and lifestyles. Make sure you comply with the attribution policies.

The following list includes more places to find free or creative commons licensed images can be good sources, although sometimes they lack diversity. Make sure you comply with the attribution policies.
- Pixabay is mostly photos.
- Creative Commons includes a mix of image types.
- Storyset has a wide selection of cartoon people doing different activities.
- Iconfinder and Flaticon have thousands of icons that can be used in various contexts.
- Unsplash is the biggest repository for educational use. It gives downloaders the right to "copy, modify, distribute and use the photos for free, including commercial purposes, without asking permission from or providing attribution to the photographer or Unsplash.
- Burst - high-resolution and free for personal and commercial use.
